OK, so I'm not high or anything but the amounts of sleep you get the first few weeks of your child’s birth is so insignificant. If you want to get an idea, sleep about 2 hours at a time but no more than 5 ½ hours total in a night. If your head is still clear your not doing right. You should sorta feel like you went to a party, got sloshed, came home and you woke up at 4:00am and you weren’t quite sure where you were or if you were dreaming or not.
So Kyle is now 3 weeks old and it should be noted that against all my hopes and dreams, he still isn’t sleeping through the night. I know, right! He has unfortunately started spitting up formula the last few days (Somehow spitting up more than he actually drank I might add) and we are concerned it is either the formula or a stomach bug.
Cloe has developed a few new sayings as well. One of her new favorite words is “shackley” AKA “exactly.” She is sure to make sure she says it to everyone in the room. She also uses words like “asited” AKA “excited,” and “sunder” AKA “Thunder” Another new vocal technique is explaining to each of us what we can and cannot do. For instance, if I try to sing the “10 Little Monkeys” song I am informed by Cloe that “You don’t sing that daddy, that’s mommy’s song.’ Likewise, if Robin tries to sing “Bringing home a baby bumblebee” song, she is told that she doesn’t tsing that because it is daddy’s song. She is trying to figure out how this independence thing works and what she can control and not control.
My buddy Tim at work constantly reminds me of my size and my ability to eat large amounts of food. This has now moved into my home. When Cloe is failing to eat her dinner I try to encourage her to eat and say things like “You better eat your food Cloe, you know why?” to which she replied “before Daddy eats it!” Ouch.
Robin had her first day home with both kids alone. From what she tells me, it sounds like it all went well. They even went the park! Not too shabby there mommy!
I am back at work this week and it is considerably not fun. Not after being off for two weeks and hanging with Robin and the kids. I seriously need to look into becoming independently wealthy or something.
Speaking of money, last week our realtor informed us that we may have an offer on our home in Euclid. Apparently there is a couple who would like to lease to purchase the home. The way that works is that they lease the home for 1 year and then at the end the purchase agreement kicks in and they have to buy the home. If they do not buy the home, then a penalty of some sort kicks in or something. They haven’t faxed over a formal offer with a number on it though so we are waiting to see. Their realtor went on vacation last Friday and isn’t due back in town until this week. I’ll keep you posted.
My boss is back at work today after her vacation and I am looking forward to seeing her today at work and discussing the prospects of me flying out to COS to help interview for my new counterpart out there. My current counterpart is coming back to Cleveland, leaving a spot open out there. I am hoping the trip isn’t to terribly long so that I can fly out there without leaving Robin alone for too long. We shall see.
Well, I am off to work…..
